Time to use the fireplace

Not wood but we have a propane (LPG) log fireplace with automatic blower and we have used it quite a bit here in North Carolina. Near record low temps a week ago. It's a fun visual thing. Wood rules but this is an acceptable substitute.

Our last home in South Carolina had a NG fireplace, that was nice too, for effect. The one now in the new home (LPG) is nicer and with the automatic blower blows out a fair amount of heat. It's just something to turn on while watching a movie, stuff like that. Both vented with stainless chimneys.

As a teenager and young adult in New York, my parents had a nice stone wood fireplace, my friend's parents also had brick ones.
It was a lot of fun building huge fires in them. Good memories for sure.

I used to go around with a chain saw and stock up for the winter ...

One of my hobbies is wood heat, grew up in the U.P. of MI. I can start a fire in my sleep, enjoy dealing with firewood. My current is a Vermont Castings free standing wood stove. I like the temp about 75 inside the house.

My system is rather simple, works for me.
