time to change the oil?

2016.5 mazda cx5,changed the oil 6monthes and 3750 miles ago,
yesterday i went to check the oil level and it had a strong smell of gas,probably beacuse my daily very short trips the oil gets diluted fast.
should i change the oil or leave it for 2-3 months more?is it normal and safe?
using the motul 8100 5w30 eco lite.

Well, how many miles do you normally travel between oil change intervals(OCIs)?
I believe that Mazda requires 3750 miles in their owner's manual(here in the States). However, you could be boarder line or go to 5000 miles, I, nor anyone else can really tell you without a used oil analysis(UOA).

get out on the highway for an hour and get it hot.
check the oil again when you get home. If the smell has gone, you win!
If not, change the oil.

my manual says one year or 10k miles,thats ok if not under severe service which the manual says nothing about.
had the car for a year and changed twice allready,
ill try the highway thing tnx.

Strong smell of gas means you should have changed it weeks ago.
Why wait so long before checking the dipstick? Check it more often. Consumption worries are not the only reason to pull the dipstick.

if you fill it with 5w30 and then fuel gets into the oil and dilutes it you have a 20 weight.

If you want 30 in your sump and you know fuel is getting in, then fill it with a 40 weight and the fuel will dilute it down to a 30.

if you go for a long drive once per week, say an hour on the highway, then any fuel in the oil will evaporate off and keep the oil in better condition.

MY CX5 list 5,000 miles/8,000Km as the severe service oil change. It takes very little fuel in the oil to produce a strong gas smell. If possible, Go for a long drive of say 15 miles at highway speeds as Olas suggested. Ed

on friday and Saturday im usually on the highway for 1-2 hours in total.

On the Chevy Sonic my wife drives , we try to check the oil every time we put gas in it .

Does not seem to be burning oil , but found it low , once . Forgot to put the new o-ring on the plastic oil filter cap , when I changed oil . It leaked . :-( . Removed the cap & installed the new o-ring and all was well .

That's good to know.
Glad it burned off. I've smelled gas on the stick of a few of my cars in the past and never got too riled up about it.
As with yours and the 3700 miles versus manual saying 10k - obviously 'we' should default to what is best for our own driving style, climate areas, conditions etc... At 5000 mi, could be a good point and especially safe if using synthetic.
If you experience concerns or issues at the 5k oci, I think it's time to talk with Mazda since you've doubled down oci. I'm sure it'll be fine.

I should probably take our cars out to the highway to stretch their legs too ! Lots of short trips, stop and go and a few miles of errands = 90% of our use.
I hot-rodded the VW last week using sport shift rpm's and a bottle of Techron in the tank.

Today's cars are very good with fuel control. I use my 30 year old heap, which is primitive compared to your 2016, for short trips and never smell gas in the oil. You may have an issue with the engine and is running slightly richer than it should.

Oil is cheap engines are not. Change your oil.
