Ticks die when they bite me, gotta wonder why they bother with humans

It looks like one of the bad black legged light colored body ticks got me.

I live in a small city with no trees and a compact car sized chunk of grass, but I keep catching ticks crawling on me despite the lack of any wildlife.

One finally got me above the groin, noticed it while showering because of a big puss filled bump, Tried to use tweezers and get it out but nope too far embedded and there the head stayed.

Doesn’t appear it was alive or engorged which has always been the case when a tick bites me, you would think ticks would evolve to identify prey or not , avoiding creatures that cause death in 100% of circumstances but nope they want to comit sewercide and irritate me.

Now in the walkin since it already looks infected. think I had a fever last night as well, possibly due to this tick.
 
Had a friend in 8th grade who broke his leg. Several weeks later was hospitalized with fever and other rather concerning symptoms.
For days the doctors were baffled as his condition worsened. They removed the cast from his leg and found a large tick somewhere hidden by the cast.
Back then we called it Rocky Mountain Spotted fever.
 
Caused from a deer tick. Get a Lyme disease blood titer. That's a medical problem that can dog you the rest of your life. I had it long time ago but caught it early. Dose of tetracycline and its gone. Untreated it can cause all sorts of nasty neurological symptoms.

Yeah walkin took 2 hours then rotto-reutered its head out , had to wait longer because they insisted I get the drugs before I left.

Told to monitor if I get sick and return
