ticking sound from engine compartment

Car: 06 scion tC, 08 engine
Started yesterday, the day before she was running awesome and quiet other than the new toilet tank sound from the new fuel regulator I got installed.
Yesterday I decided to cut the grass and pulled the car out of the garage by just pushing it out, but somehow left the car with the ignition in the on position for the whole two hours I was doing yard work. Battery died and had to jump it with the wifes tC, then immediately after start up it got the ticking sound like a diesel engine.

The sounds is only there during idle and acceleration, when decelerating it completely disappears. If I pop the hood to take a look I can't hear anything, it's more obvious when I'm in the cabin. Is there anything that could get fried from being on for two hours? VSV, injectors, etc. Just plain weird, thanks in advance.

P.S. ticking gets faster as rpm increases

Don't feel bad like I do. I created a tick when I was changing the battery and had the neg- hooked up and let the positive rest on the body for a few seconds until I smelt something. Such a dunce

just noticing the fuel reg replacement,maybe it's letting more pressure get to the injectors causing more noticeable tick.I've had a few cars that had loud injectors ,the worst was the '04 Frontier,always loud.
