Throttle body

Does or has anyone cleaned a throttle body on an '04 malibu classic with the 2.2 4l engine? Is it pretty simple or not?
I have 129,000 miles on it and it probably needs a little cleaning. Where's the pcv valve at?

Call me neglectful if you want, but the only times I clean a throttle body on a GM is when they get a sticky feeling at tip in or just before replacing spark plugs. I've yet to see one of those Ecotec 2.2 engines ever do anything other than run perfectly and just like when new. Why fix something that isn't broken and may never break?

On most cars its easy to clean. Buy throttle body cleaner pull off the intake hose andspray till it comes out clean.

Remove the TB and clean with rag.

I'm not sure if that vintage Ecotec 2.2L uses electronic throttle control, but don't work the throttle plate by hand with the ignition on if you choose to clean it.

Ecotec's don't have PCV valves. The vacuum side of the PCV system is ported/cast into the intake manifold. Only the breather side is visible.

You're also going to want to do a drain/fill or 3 on that 4T45E transmission.

Thanks for the replies, just want to keep this car running to 200,000 miles. It's my work car, I've done t-bodies on v6 & v8's but the shroud on this one looks very different than I'm used to. The plugs and transmission have all been changed at 100,000. Still get 32-34 for mileage so can't complain.

Be very careful with this throttle body and plenum. Do not us any spay TB cleaner that contains MEK (as per GM warning). IIRC Berrymans and most others use this in their formulations.
You may be okay with mass airflow sensor cleaner, i believe its MEK free but check the label.

Clean it manually with solvent and a rag [don't just spray it]. Get as much as you can reach.
