Good thing you have 5mph bumpers. Should be an easy repair.
Three weeks and rear ended

I ran over a raccoon and smashed my front bumper and the ac condenser or radiator whatever it's called.
New bumper painted and installed with the new ac radiator cost $1700.
I only had to pay $500 deductible.
This was on my 08 Focus with 30000 miles on it. Yes Murphy is a basterd! My wife "got sick" in ours the first month we owned it. Spent a good week cleaning and deodorizing.
What are you gonna do? It still bothers me now thinking about it. I'm gonna go take a nap.

I'll make sure to mention the shock absorbing pad and alignment check. This wasn't in the school parking lot, it's on a street called Morrison ave, heading toward I-787 out of troy. It's a horrible street as steep as it is. He didn't hit me that hard but my back is starting to hurt a little bit. =P And no he wasn't tailgaiting me, but apparently he wasn't paying attention

If he rear-ended you, he was tailgating at some point. The law is interpreted that way. If you're curious, try getting a copy of the police report. I'm pretty sure he was likely cited for tailgating. That'll make it easier to get his insurance to pony up.

Winter is a nightmare for this type of accident, especially the first few weeks after the weather sets in, and people haven't switched from their AS or are still driving like its July. This place is bad for tailgating anyway, but throw in cell phones, chicks fixing their makeup while they drive, and add in powder over a nice coating of ice... not pretty. My only accident was tailgate related. Overtaking on the TCH, van in front was tailgating the car ahead who braked for an exit ramp. Van had nowhere to go but right in front of me, and in braking to avoid rearending him, I flipped and rolled off into the median.
They both kept going so I was deemed at fault and am still paying for it through my insurance. Would have better off if I hadn't touched the brake and simply hit him at full speed.
On the TCH that loops the city it can be a bigger nightmare. I've been stuck doing 60 mph behind cars packed in both lanes and the guy behind me riding my bumper like its my fault the slowpoke ahead won't merge with slower traffic in the right lane.

That's unfortunate. My car instantly seemed a lot less new and precious to me when I got T-boned by a red-light runner. On the bright side, the damage looks relatively minor and you won't care about little cosmetic details as much after having seen it suffer more serious damage!

That's how it always happens. There's some evil karmic force that makes it this way. Some old guy turned right in front of my 88 Civic when it was only a couple months old. At least the paint was so new it was easier to match the bumper, and it aged almost identically to the original paint.

Actually, your big mistake was failing to spill a triple scoop chocolate ice cream cone in your back seat. Then you wash it in with a large can of sugared (no diet allowed) soda. Once you do that, NOTHING will EVER happen to your car.

My wife got rear ended (cell phone yakking idiot) and the other guys' insurance paid (we only have liability). Insurance renewal time they say "well because you're such a good customer we'll forgive this accident"... marketing doublespeak for "thank you for not being at fault"?
Anyway it's good ammo for talking with the insurance adjuster. THEY have a copy, but will probably manipulate you into thinking it says something it does not.
