Cliff notes: The much maligned on here Microsoft is striking a deal with Constellation to buy the output from TMI Unit 1, which will be brought back into service. The unit is expected to be back in action by 2028. This is the 2nd reactor, after Palisades, to be planned to return to service.

This is fantastic news for US nuclear advocates and the industry as a whole.

I love it! We have the unfinished Bellefonte nuclear plant near my house, which was mothballed in the late 80s. Last I heard as recently as this summer was the TVA was still investigating potential options for the plant. Maybe this will spur them on.
Would love to see the STP expansion - had permits, cooling water, and more - but not enough investor enthusiasm …

They just announced a new huge data center (under construction now) in the DFW area not far from me. This will draw a huge amount of power that I do not think our grid is ready for. It would be nice if we had a nuclear plant nearby that could be used to offset the huge power draw these centers pull. You know it's a lot of power when they open a whole reactor just for themselves.

TX is already terrible enough as is for power production/generation so that will be fun

Americans SLOWLY waking up to the fact that if they want clean reliable 24 hour energy this is what we need.
I stumbled upon another solar farm yesterday - 3rd one in two months. They get put in with little fanfare - plus they are low profile and can’t be seen until you run up on them …
The 24 hour part is GTG …

They are building them like crazy in Northern Va. but there is no power capacity for them. Finished data centers are screaming to be connected to power but there isn't any. Guess where their power comes from.......WV and coal.
