Thread sealant for differential breather vent?

Hi all,
I want to replace the breather vent on my 2005 Highlander. I believe it is a tapered thread and wondering if I should use a small bit of thread sealant like Permatex 59214. I will not mess with Teflon tape. I just replaced the PCV with a genuine Toyota PCV and noted it came with a pink sealant already applied to the tapered threads but the Toyota breather vent did not - making we wonder why it didn't since again, both look tapered. I'm attaching a stock photo below of the Toyota breather vent part. Thanks for any advice.

I'm assuming there is a rubber hose on the fitting.
Check that it's not cracked or loaded with road dirt.

I was paranoid about mine and put a small gasoline filter at the end of the hose.
It could still breathe but not allow any dirt thru.

No rubber hose. The breather vent is screwed directly into the top of the rear differential housing.

Use that Permatex. It’s good stuff. I’ve used 518PST for a few things.

It's a pipe thread. In theory it should not leak if tightened sufficient. There's only 1 psi of pressure if that.

I usually use rector 5, Tru Blue, monster, etc. Whatever is handy.

Probably fine without, but Whatever. Keeps it from rusting stuck.
