A young man in a Subaru Crosstrek ran off the road in the curve by my house, hit my neighbors culvert and cartwheeled his car.
The pictures don’t show the extent of the damage. All of his airbags are blown and the car will be totaled for sure.
We heard it and ran over to him as my Wife was calling for help. It was one heck of a noise when he hit that culvert and flipped it over. The first noise was when he hit the culvert and the second was when he landed on the drivers rear corner, it was pretty loud.
We sat with him to make sure he was ok until the police arrived and took statements. Fortunately, he seemed to be ok,…other than being sick about what had just happened.
I’ll get pictures of the tire marks, impact points, etc. when it’s light enough to see them tomorrow. This young man had to be hauling a** to do what he did. The kicker is that he lives down the road and knows this curve.
The pictures were taken as my Son watched, through a bedroom window, how a recovery was done. He said that it must suck doing that because it’s cold outside and that ditch is deep and very muddy given all of the rain that we’ve had. (It’s probably that very soft, muddy ground that minimized the impact for that young man driving the Subaru.)
