HDTV early adopter tax for these prices lol. No HDMI at the time so it was done over component video (at 1080i/720P.) There isn't a lot of HD content at the time aside from bleeding edge gaming (the PlayStation 2 supported HD over component but only a few titles supported HD output).
RIP Sears Hawaii. You were my childhood. Ala Moana location got razed for a high-end condo. Pearlridge location held on but eventually shuttered (still has the bronze koi statues inside). Windward Mall got turned into a Tarjet. Not sure about the neighbor island locations.

I thought some people might find this interesting. With the screw-down crown unscrewed, you can see the external crown tube seal that seals the crown against the threaded crown stem tube. The crown stem has additional much smaller seals that seal against the inside of the tube.
