A few years ago, sweetie and I would spend a couple of weeks each fall in a cabin at So. Lake Tahoe. In the afternoons, prior to dinner, we'd gather with others on the big lodge deck for drinks and snacks and conversation. It was not unusual to see the squirrels in attendance.Cannibal squirrel? Looks like he's eating a bone.
What surprised me was that these little critters appeared to be omnivores, and would be seen stealing cheese and luncheon meats from the trays put out for the guests. They seemed to prefer turkey and chicken to other meat but appeared to be indiscriminate when it came to cheese.
