Good root beer. Rural King in my area is the only place that sells this particular one.
 
My temporary assigned-to-me coworker Klaus from Witzenhausen was hankering for German food after 3 days in SF. I took him to the Radhaus at Fort Mason in the Marina.



The Radhaus. Odd name. It means Wheelhouse (because it's in the Marina?). Rathaus (City Council Hall) or Ratskeller (Council Basement) are more common names for German establishments.



I didn't care much for the ambiance. While I do enjoy Rammstein on occasion I'm not sure the lyrics were appropriate for lunch. Does Dicke Ti**en mean what I think?



I started with a pretzel with a mixed cheese spread and mustard and the German version of Mac and cheese.



Next I had a bratwurst with mashed potatoes and sauerkraut. The dish was overwhelmingly small. I thought German sausages were bigger.

I won't show you what Klaus had. He ate half the menu. Claudia the butch waitress kept bringing Klaus one Clausthaler after the other. I became increasingly claustrophobic.

Still hungry and unfortunately quite sober, I checked out the Millenium Clock next door.

We were there in June of last year, and yes, there were quite a few people there. It was still a great experience and the trail going down was a beautiful walk.

Did Herr Klaus von Witzenhausen enjoy the food or was he just hungry? Hat er das Essen genossen oder war er nur hungrig und durstig?
