Highly recommend getting diamond wedge. $7.74 at my Harbor Freight on “clearance. Got last two. Didn’t get stuck in hickory, locust, white oak or pine I busted apart at all.

View attachment 194425A knife set that I got for my parents for Christmas. They have wanted one. I think my mom will like it. Dad is picky so he might or might not. I just hope if he doesn’t like it he doesn’t say anything this time cause I put a lot of research and thought into this. I like the brown for a change too from the traditional black ones we get. These are wooden handles too so hand wash only. They were the highest rated ones I seen that were available in a timely manner. Had to go to a different Walmart to get them though and they had to get one from the back because the other one was open box. I always have liked wooden handle knives for kitchen stuff. They were expensive but feel nice and look nice.
If you can, don’t put them in the dishwasher. It fades the wood.

If you want to make the edge last on a kitchen knife, never put it in the dishwasher. They end up being beaten by other things during the dishwasher cycles. My wife would do that and we ended up with knives that would cut as well with the handle as they would with the blade. Took me years to break her of the habit.
