My wife has to have an atlas whenever we travel. She has one in each of our cars and on in the motorhome. She loves to follow along in our travels.
This reminds me of a few decades ago when one day my boss confessed that when drilling a hole in the wall of a basement bathroom, he accidently drilled into a water pipe.
As a plumber I have patched a few pipes that people have screwed, sawed and nailed into.

Hope you don't mind me liking your post. Detours of that nature on a train seem adventurous.I took the California Zephyr from Chicago to Denver. We got detoured as we got into Nebraska due to track washout. had to use Google Maps to follow along (when we had a signal) just to see where we were. 8 hour side trip...
