Thoughts on Prestone Synthetic DOT-3 Brake Fluid?

I just bought 3 quarts of it today for when I flush the brake fluid in my Integra which spec's DOT-3 or DOT-4. Is this stuff any good? It was about $2 cheaper per bottle than the Valvoline SynPower. Also, will this work in the ABS Modulator as well?

It looks decent to me 470F dry boiling point. The wet is not as good as Synpower.
I wonder why the smaller bottles of Valvoline Synpower brake fluid say 480F dry, and the big bottle says 500F dry.
I used some of the Prestone at first, but ended up bleeding again with Synpower.

I'll probably use SynPower on my next bleeding. Pep Boys only had one quart left and I needed at least 2 (thanks to my car having a separate modulator for the ABS).

I have Prestone DOT 4 in one of my cars at the moment. It seems fine.

There is nothing special about the Prestone "Synthetic" DOT-3 fluid. All brake fluids are by definition synthetic since they are not refined directly from crude oil. Personally I prefer DOT-4 spec fluids for their higher boiling points.

Castrol LMA, Pentosin and ATE DOT-4 fluids are my favorites. One sign of a fluid where they are paying attention to details is that it will come in a metal container. Plastic containers allow moisture to slowly diffuse in.

Interesting tip on the metal containers. I know that super blue racing fluid comes in metal containers. The prestone came in plastic, but i'm going to be using it really soon, so I don't think I have to worry too hard about the moisture.

It makes you wonder why Motul puts it's 300V engine oil in metal containers, but packages it's RBF600 brake fluid in plastic?? Maybe because the 300V is such a high percentage of ester base stocks that they feel it is too hygroscopic to be packaged in plastic as well???

Get a Dot 4 as it is like replacing regular with synthetic irrespective of what it is. For as often as you change it you might as well spend 2 bucks.
