Thinnest 5w-30?

Their Full Synthetic is better with it's VI of 172 and PP has no bearing on how well an oil flows a 0C.

After countless blind recommendations to "run thin oil on anything and everything" I tried it. Oil was weeping from the valve cover and oil pan gasket within a few thousand miles. Car had bad valve seals to begin with, blew smoke to beat the band. Had to back off to a mix, not as bad. So in a way what I'm saying in pictures is true. If I kept running thin oil it would have ruined the car eventually. Not worth making a bunch of repairs to run the stuff.

CATERHAM - The OP is asking about going thinner. I Shared what happened to me when I went thin without considering the condition of the vehicle. The OP can decide whether or not to discount what I say and go with the masses.

The OP is asking about the thinnest 30wt oil on start-up at 32F. We're not talking about running a lighter oil at operating temp's; it's still a 30wt oil.
So he's not talking about "going thinner" as you put it.

Used to be Castrol Syntec and Havolilne Deposit Sheild were the lowest viscosity OTC 5w30 oils.

I'm a fan of thinner oil myself and I've always been a pp fan as its a good oil and appears to be on the thinner side of 30wt.

There is no evidence that Syntec, Havoline or Pennzoil Platinum / Pennzoil Ultra are any lighter than any other 5w30. Unless they have a VI appreciably higher than 170, which they don't, then they offer no substantive advantage.
