Since you are only using these tires for a couple years, why the endless posts and threads about it? Just about any decent value brand tire will be fine for your needs. At this price point, the differences are minor, and you won't have them long enough to notice.

I don't understand the constant shopping for 3rd tier tire brands. It's like shopping for cheap pizza, or the lowest price Chinese buffet. What's the point? It's all about price, anyway. Otherwise you wouldn't be looking at Nexen or the private label brands.
 
If you want to go with a private label that will wear like iron, go find a SigmaE Regent dealer. It's a TBC Private Brands tire, the same makers of Big O Tires. I sell them to ranchers for their passenger cars where they drive on a lot of gravel. They wear pretty well on most any surface.

Tiger Paws are the worst tires I've ever seen. Road grip is non-existant dry or wet. Probably get good gas mileage and tread wear but I'll take performance, safety and handling over that anyday. Pay the price for GOOD tires, your life is riding on that little contact patch of rubber to the road. I never cheap out on tires.

Besides. they sometimes offer a bit of education too. This is what happens when you are a BITOGer with time to wait...

I bought Bridgestone G009s for my wifes car, I read the reports and they all were good. I hate the tires. I am going to Sams club and complain about them tommarrow. Ive had many a cheap no name tire in the past and cant say I had any trouble with any of them. Only tires I ever had trouble with where Michelins, General and now these Bridgestones. My Dad had a set of Mohawks,on a old Dodge, those things lasted forever. They acually made a impression on me.

My buddy's Saturn ran on Mohawks for years until the recent switch to Cooper...

What exactly don't you like about them? The car feels wobbly on them. I checked the wheel nuts, but the car just seems to wander all over the road. I dont think its alignment since it does not pull. But I drove it home on 95 at about 80 and it does it about all the time at various speeds. It didnt do this before the tires. I thought it was because of the rubber, they have alot of rubber. I adjusted the air twice and it made no diffence. They have been on there for about 2000 miles and it isnt getting any better. Ill take them in and complain and have them rotated and rebalanced and see if that changes anything. I hate to take it for a re-allignment, since its really not pulling or wearing the tires funny, but I will if the problem is still there to rule that out. I checked all the suspension parts and they all seem good, I dont see anything awry. Like I said it was fine, before the tires. Thats why Iam blaming them.

Sorry I screwed up how I posted that, but you can read the problems.
 
I don't know about the other brands but KUMHO is getting wide distribution and many reviews in Consumer Reports, Grass Roots Motorsports, etc. and sold widely including Tire Rack and Discount Tire.I would currently consider it a name brand.
 
Same experience reading tire reports. They can be be quite inaccurate. Now I read the most negative reports first.
 
Old thread, but I have Tiger Paws from walmart (when they carried them). 225/60-16 have 98,000 miles on them and good tread depth. I'm going to swap them out at Thanksgiving or so. We'll see if they make it to 110K.
 
i had tigerpaws that were so out of round it was visible with the wheel jacked and tire spun. 3/16" deviation high to low. will never own again.

Kumho perform well. The only negative is they don't last near as long as they advertise. When you think you're buying an 80,000 mile tire you're really buying a 50,000 mile tire.
