My thermostat is running just cooler and is between the 100 and the halfway mark. I'm assuming that is around 180 or 190.
Besides the possibility of the thermostat going bad, could there be another problem causing it to read cooler?
Is 180/190 and normal reading for the thermostat?

What vehicle? 190 is about right depending on what temp thermostat is in the engine and what vehicle is in question. If it's a GM, then it sounds like it is running too cool. Another possibility is a bad temp gage sending unit.

You need a real gauge with a real reading to make any conclusions.
If there is a percieved change from normal, you should look further to determine what changed [thermostat, sending unit, or gauge].

I have a 95 Olds with the 3.1, it runs around 185-190º, thermostat is cheap enough to change, sometimes they do go bad.
Sending unit could also be kaput.
