I recently posted on the completion of the Transmountain Pipeline Expansion and it is a secure source of crude oil for the Pacific North West refineries. Most folks think about Prudhoe Bay as the main source of crude oil, but before that, the main source of crude oil was from Alberta. The large oil discovery near Edmonton in 1947 caused the building of the original Transmountain pipeline from Edmonton to Vancouver, but they also put a tee in the line at Abbotsford and ran a pipeline all the way down to Anacortes, Washington.

Fast forward to 2024 and the line has been twinned and crude oil is still available to those same refineries. Here is the the rest of the story.
