I was in Pull-A-Part today digging through an Explorer when I spotted a Fusion taillight sitting on one of the seats...WTH?

Sure enough, two rows over, there was a 2008 Fusion. It's rare to find ANYTHING newer than 10 years in a Pull-A-Part yard.

It was not a wreck, it had a bad under hood fire. All of the paint on the front clip was gone and all the plastic melted, but the cabin was mostly intact with just some smoke/heat damage around the dash. The interior actually looked clean and still smelled good. I couldn't tell the mileage due to it having an electronic odo.

I am not sure what engine it had, as that had been completely removed...I wonder if Ford pulled it to investigate what happened, I kind of doubt it would have been usable. The trans was still in the car.

Anyway, just thought I'd share since it was kind of an odd thing to see in Pull-A-Part.

It's true in my wreckers its the same.
Occasionally I'll come across a fairly new car and it's usually a fairly strong total loss. Most of the older stuff is fairly clean, and was likely junked due to minor accident or engine/trans probs.

It's an actual mix here...went to find a part for my wife's Cavalier..and while there spotted a few Cobalts, a few Kia Spectras, Focus, and some dodge chargers..

Depends on the yard I guess...

Which has me curious why they keep them in the yards.....it's the older cars with all the metal, that are the big money :P you know, all that metal

Not much (aside from the electronics I guess...) to these new cars.....all plastic....lol.

Typically these cars get sold pretty fast in major parts and pieces. For body work, engine and transmission. This one without either is a pick a part candidate.
