"SuperCheap Auto"?? You're kidding.
Must be a cultural difference. That name conjures up images of cheap Chinese parts failing on our cars in the States.

Yeah I agree, it's not the best name, but they do sell good stuff there and at decent (local) prices. Their sales are pretty good too. Just call them SCA, it's not as bad as saying the name long hand.

The first time I heard Quaker State, I thought people were talking about a phase of sleep, like REM.
It's just regional differences, it always seems strange from the other side of the world. Pass me a Royal with Cheese.

Good commercial though, thanks for posting. They are also the four oil brands I use: Castrol Edge, Penrite 10-Tenths, Valvoline SynPower and Shell Helix Ultra. All good stuff.

Hi,
a good Marketing push from SuperCheap - interesting that they stopped selling Mobil products some time back

They are a very good retail chain and well respected here in OZ

Where did Repco go wrong...................?

Are these Ford Falcons??

Man I sure which we had them here.

They are using both Ford Falcons and Holden (GM) Commodores.

To use only one of those car brands in Australia, would cause you to lose half your customer base. Need to show both. Even the original Mad Max movie had both V8 Fords and Holdens chasing each other through the Outback.

Look closely at the radiator grille. The open grille is a Ford, the two part grille with the middle vertical line is a Holden.

All V8's of course.

Doing the hard yards for the team, I watched that add a few more times.

Penrite - GM Holden
Castrol Edge - Ford
Valvoline - GM Holden
Shell Helix - Ford

The Ford is a Falcon and the Holden (Chevy) is a Commodore.

You can't just pick the car you like, you inherit your tribe (Ford or Holden) down your father's bloodline. You are told from birth which one to follow.

You can, as a Holden or Ford man, buy another car like a Audi or Honda for practical reasons. But you still need to follow one of the primary tribes, and you may never buy a car from the other tribe.

Max was obviously a Ford man

The Nightrider was a Holden man

No wonder they never got on together

You reckon?
They might have a few good quality oils and other lubricants, but most of their stock is [censored].

Have a look at the tools and auto accessories they sell, I certainly wouldn't use a carjack from Supercheap.

To me they are an auto store, so I go there for oil, filters and stuff.

For tools, I go to a proper tool / hardware store and buy Sidchrome. I think REPCO has a better parts selection.

Remember when parts stores closed at 12 noon on Saturday, and didn't open again until Monday morning?

REPCO and SCA are not perfect, but I often find myself there, and for me they have the best oil selection (by far) in my area. If I don't like what I see with their other stuff, then I keep looking. But yes, I too dislike their racks of silly cheap plastic mats, mugs and dice etc.

For those of us old enough to remember the '80s in our parts buying careers, REPCO used to stand for "Rip Every Poor C Off", and in my town, that's still their M.O. go to buy a V-6 coil on a Saturday to test something, and automatically get the max price offer

Supercheap was a breath of fresh air (well at least for the wallet moths), and trade card gives me the choice of 10% off or the customer card whatever it happens to be.

Looking closely that Shell car is quite beat up and the anorak in me must inform you that there are no Holdens, only HSV and Ford.

Here in the States, add Mopar (Chrysler-Dodge) fans to the loyalty mix.
Sure there are Ford and GM (Chevy etc.) diehard fans too.
Did Chrsyler-Dodge sell anything in Australia to get some fans?
