Which motor oil would be the best for my 2007 Dodge Dakota SLT 3.7 V-6?

How do you drive? It calls for 5W-20, right?

Can't go wrong with Amsoil XLM 5W-20

Amsoil, Mobil 1, Pennzoil Platinum 0w30 or 5w30 should all do just fine.

If you are a 3M/#K guy and can't get past that then any SM/GF-4 5w30 should do.

According to Amsoil and Castrol websites I show that to be a 5w30 vehicle still.

An oil that meets the manufacturere specs and if you like comes in a bottle that goes with the color scheme of your garage.

I would actually recommend staying away from Mobil 1. It is not as good and definitely over priced.

It all comes down to how often you want to crawl under your truck and driving conditions. If you wanna do 3000 mile changes, you could probably go with Wal Mart's Supertech. Staying with dino, lots of guys around here love Havoline. If synthetic Amsoil or M1 would probably work well. Driving conditions and your engine are really your only clues to what oil is best, and a Used Oil Analysis is the only way to tell how your engine likes an oil. Your engine may love the cheap stuff, and not do any better on a high $ synthetic. I would say, pick a good dino, have it analyzed and go from there.

Hard to beat Motorcraft 5W-20 for $2.07/qt (in 5qt jugs) at Wal-Mart. Syn blend and look at the sparkling used oil analysis.

There are many variables to consider of which you've not given any info on.

FWIW I've recently made a complete switch to full synthetics.

After having done a great deal of research along with my driving patterns PP would be my first choice followed by Amsoil. Then Mobil 1 or Quaker State if I were to run into a supply issue.

Of course I'll be doing used oil analysis to determine if any changes are needed.

I read an article that the dodge durango motors developed a lot of sludge around 30,000 to 40,000 miles. Mopar blamed the owners for their vehicle maintenance care. If your vehicle uses the same motor, I would investigate further on that issue. Oil selection and oci's should be based on that possibility. Good luck.
