The re-do of the original Bug in, what was it, 2000 or something has gotten a rep as a chick car, and it always did look faintly cute and comic. I never considered driving one. But --

-- the spots VW has been running for the 2012 (or maybe it's the 2013?) Beetle have caught my attention. You know the one, with the "Goose drank wine" song on the soundtrack, and the young driver (a guy, you notice) piloting the black Beetle gets high fives from everybody? Somehow the spots make the latest Beetle look more lower and more aerodynamic -- more like a 911 Porsche!

I haven't seen one in real life. Whaddaya think? Still a chick car?

Its more short and squat. Lots with those moon hubcaps for a retro look.

IMO a bit better looking... But likely even further from the original intent.

I think VW did a great job with the redesign of the 2012 Beetle.

I do agree it is much more 'tough' looking, and not really a 'cute' car anymore.

Yes, IMO, the 2012 Beetle looks better than the previous gen, but I still subjectively classify it as a chick car.

It is a bit longer and wider than the old Beetle. Height is about the same. Interior room and cargo room have increased as well.

But personally, I'd rather get a Golf instead. To me it looks better and is a lot more practical. It's cheaper than similarly equipped Beetle, too.

I think it looks pretty good. Might be pull back in all those who bought the 2000+ (second gen?) Beetle buyers.

They do in that picture, I've seen a few with some performance package with bigger spoked rims and a few body additions(chin spoiler, spoiler, etc) and it looks quite aggressive in person. So much that the 1st gen flower vase buyers would never purchase it.

Definitely better than the previous generation. I do see the Porsche in it. It also looks much more like the original Beetle than the old New Beetle did.

But I would still rather have a 5-door Golf TDI. :-)

It's a Car, It doesn't care what gender the driver is...
