Teslas unusable for Law Enforcement Cali

Whatever is chosen needs a beefy suspension. Baltimore cops used the Taurus for a while and couldn't keep them on the road due to suspension problems.

The Blazer EV PPV is a much better option and solves most of the Model 3 & Y police car problems.

• Factory police wiring and electrical systems.
• Vastly larger backseat. Overall interior and seat width is better, so easier for police officer duty belts. Seats are even police specific and contour to the duty belt.
• 19.2kW Level 2 charging = much faster charging on basic 240v infrastructure.

Dang. I'd drive one of those, no problem. Chevy does do a good job with police specific specs in a vehicle. The new Tahoe PVs are very nice. But expensive and thirsty.

Perhaps you guys missed my sarcasm. I bought the Performance version because that's what I wanted. This car can make life miserable for cars 3x its price, and beyond.

I would buy another tomorrow if something happened to mine. It's that good.
I get that part, it’s not a living room sized vehicle taking up space which was my point.

I see quite a few Mustang Mach E NYPD cars every time I drive into the city, can't be that bad.

According to the article quoted - it makes sense to me that the F150 lightning is much better suited to police work than a 3 or Y if you are going electric.

Department using a 3 or y for certain work can make sense but certainly not everything.

Apparently this size thing only afflicts the US somehow.
Our low income high crime neighborhoods are full of obesity problem. People don't starve in the US, they are malnourished with addictive junk food. (nutrition, cost, delicious, you can pick 2 out of 3)

We also have a lot of BIG officers.

I don’t think you’re wrong, but that’s at best $20k more expensive per vehicle. My town is already buying F150s so I can only imagine how big the fuel cost is now in addition to more expensive vehicles than they were already buying.

I think the Lightning would be a good compromise, but to have similar ranges to the 3 or Y they’ll need the Flash which I believe is the new Extended Range model and at least was $10k more than the standard.

I didnt quite word my positioning very well, but sure.... it's a more expensive vehicle to buy and run for sure, but one cant really disagree better suited to address the problem they have with space, conversions, and power draw.

The department guy buying lightnings at least knows enough to install infrastructure at the shop.

The article is posted as an anti EV piece, with the OP misquoting the headline, but really it's an article about why the EV trucks (speficially the ford) makes more sense than a midsized sedan to many departments and that you need infrastructure to make it work
