I can only see it going downhill for Tesla from here on out. Musk is far too busy these days arguing about politics on his new "News" platform to actually concentrate on growing a proper company. If I worked for Tesla right now I'd be quickly looking at other jobs before he turns it into a total car crash.

Like when he fired the ENTIRE supercharging division, then realized who was going to do their jobs?

Or the fact that half of Tesla's Q2 profit came from carbon offset credits? Or better yet at one point Musk claimed that Teslas older hardware may not be compatible with newer technology/ or models.

That’s when Tesla introduced Hardware 3 (HW3).

Musk claimed that this computer would enable self-driving and everyone who bought the Full Self-Driving (FSD) package on prior vehicles, would get a computer retrofit for free (or rather included in the price they paid for FSD).

Since then, Tesla has introduced HW4, a more powerful onboard computer for its vehicles.

Tesla is not offering prior vehicles a retrofit with this new computer as it insists that HW3 is capable to achieve self-driving through future software update."

The other manufacturers were free to produce their own low/zero emissions vehicles and earn credits, no one was stopping them. This is simply an efficient market method for reducing emissions across the nation and thats clearly a desirable outcome.

To be clear, these are not taxpayer funds - something the article reluctantly admits if you read it.
