The Model X Plaid is now getting into customers hands. Surprisingly, it’s slightly cheaper than a Model S Plaid.

A 5,390 lb., 3-row SUV doing 0-60 in 2.3 seconds 😵‍💫

Wow, the mighty Porsche launched well and stayed close to 60 mph; after that is was all over.
It would do better against the Model 3 Performance.

A 10 second car vs a 9 second car, the result is predictable. The Porsche is 640HP, the Plaid, 1,020, even Stevie Wonder could have seen this result coming.

A better line-up would have been with the 840HP Demon. Still a couple hundred ponies short, but at least in the same ballpark 1/4 mile-wise.

Anyone who looked at the HP figures, lol.

The power-to-weight ratios are almost identical.

One is 10 second car, one is 9 second car, everybody knew that going in, why should anybody be surprised by the results?

The Porsche has a curb weight of 3,636lbs, that's .176HP per lb
The Tesla has a curb weight of 5,390lbs, that's .189HP per lb

That is not almost identical.

The Dodge Demon, which is also a 9 second car has a curb weight of 4,280lbs, that's 0.196HP per lb, closer to the Tesla, and, not surprising, runs in the same bracket (a little faster, linked car went 9.57) for 1/4 mile.

Just for fun, I dug up the old Wallace Racing 1/4 mile calculator and plugged these same figures in. From fastest to slowest, the same three cars:
1. Demon: 9.76
2. Tesla X: 9.86
3. Porsche: 10.07

The ranking is relatively consistent with the published numbers with the Tesla and Demon doing a bit better than the calculator, while the Porsche is extremely close with what Car and Driver got, which was a 10.1.
