Tesla Model 2, a $25,000 Tesla

There used to be a microphone icon on the touch screen to initiate the voice command sequence, but a recent major update to the software removed it.
Now you just push the righ hand steering wheel button.

The Tesla community is in an uproar over the new tablet user interface update...

Elon will invent the Tesla Cimmaron (just like Cadillac did using the cavalier platform).
It's gonna be a hatchback. As an early adopter, Elon sent me a pic of the prototype. Pretty sharp!

How about you push one of the 2 buttons on the steering wheel and say, "Set the temperature to 72."
How about I have a knob or setting that just stays at 72 and I don't have to push or say anything?

The display in my 2008 E-350 is still working fine, about 13 years at this point. Doesn't seem to be a big failure point, people with 2003 models are still using the same display.

The battery costs at least 10 I’m sure, going to be tough. Maybe if it is made in PRC where they make their own rules how they like.

I've certainly i
And a real key to start'r up dagnabit. Now get off my lawn you whippersnappers.
I recently misplaced the key to my ATV, so I "fixed" it with a Wago lever wirenut. So even I'm joining the trend towards keyless.

[Of course I then later found the key, so now I have yet another repair to do. *sigh*]

For all the people that tend to lose their keys, why not just get one of those tracker thingys to clip on the key chain. Unless of course you also lose your phone too.

I *did* have 'em on a carabiner. Cheapie that wore out and started tossing at the worst time (edit: cheap imitation dimestore junk version that is). I like leaving clipped on my belt loop while at home, easier to change vehicles and stuff; being home 100% of the time means I randomly find keys in the couch now...

Finally tossed the old carabiner and just pocket the keys for now. Need to find a good carabiner for the purpose. I have a real one that has simply worked for a couple decades but need a second one now.

I still use them but probably swap them out quarterly … the little spring is fairly low grade …
Also use one bigger than I need because it’s a bit tougher …

I think Tesla is missing the boat by not making the cars have more traditional appearing gauges above the steering wheel and more in the driver's line of sight, and having traditional, tactile knobs and buttons for a lot of the features like the HVAC and others. They could then use a touchscreen of about 12" x 6" for all the other features. This is what you get when you have workers with a median age of about 34 years old.

Regarding options, in most cases they are simply a profit center for the manufacturer. Case in point:
I just ordered a 2021 Jaguar F Type R. The options I specified were metallic paint upgrade: $710. OK, that's not too bad. Full leather interior upgrade and deluxe floor mats: $2650. Heated and cooled seats: $800. Heated steering wheel: $250. HomeLink garage door opener: $255. Blind Spot Assist system: $500.
I didn't even consider things like a dual zone climate control $600 (not necessary in a car with as small of a cabin as an F Type) or Jaguar logo locking lug nuts for $160. A set of McGards for about $65 will do just fine thank you.

My $37,000 Mazda CX 5 GT Reserve had heated and cooled seats, a heated steering wheel, HomeLink, a dual zone climate control and a blind spot assist system as standard equipment.

The Spark EV doesn't have enough range. The Bolt EV is perfect and pretty much exactly what I want.
Good choice. Chevrolet will discount these all day long.
My next door neighbor is on her 2nd Bolt lease (and 3rd EV). Susie likes it better than our Model 3.

I want a small, high mileage electric hatch. But basic. The Teslas are just too darn flashy for me. I do appreciate the underlying technology .
Kia/Hyundai are eating everyone's lunch IMO. They have a number of them. Soul, Niro, Kona, they are like the Borg on Star Trek, relentless and no limit to ambition.
