Tensions run high and chaos reigns at Charlotte Douglas International Airport in wake of global IT outage

CLT has always been an interesting one for me. I have family in Fort Myers so we would fly from SBA on AA to DFW and then DFW to RSW. However coming back we had to do RSW to CLT to PHX to SBA. On one of the flights from RSW to CLT we were late waiting for a gate (shocking I know). Then when we got to the gate for the CLT to PHX flight we had to wait while it was cleaned because A. it originated from Montego Bay and B. there was an "emergency medical incident" involving bodily fluids that required the Monsters Inc cleaning crew to come on with a poor gentleman being brought out on a stretcher. An hour or so later we were in the plane and missed our turn in line so we waited for takeoff. By the time we got to PHX the last flight to SBA had departed already, which is great because I didn't feel like running to what felt like Tuscon to get to the gate. AA was offering accomidations to all of us that were stuck which rocked. The guy in front of us in the customer service line was using all of George Carlin's words and was given a night in a Ramada. My mom and I walked up and I said "if you need a minute, I totally understand. If we could get a hotel or at least a pillow that would be awesome. She offered the first flight out which was 0530 or so, I asked what the other times were and I think we ended up on one leaving around 1000 which was cool since we got a room in the Double Tree with free anything you wanted breakfast.

The Stock Car Cafe was decent at CLT. I tried Bojangles once but needed a translator because I don't speak deep south.
