Life changes and I find myself in a position where I need to sell my HAH to my older son. I guess I don't really need to, but he is two years into a mortgage on his house, has just given us our second grandson (February) and is working full time at decent wages and also going to nursing school, which he will complete in October.
The 2012 Accord I passed on to him has died a sad death.
He needs a ride, so being a kind and helpful father (sucker?) my thinking is to sell him the HAH at a friendly price and buy a new car for myself.
I don't really need a hybrid these days, having given up a fifty mile round trip commute since I retired.
An Altima SV is compellingly cheap, like five or six grand less than a new Camry or HAH. It does look pretty nice inside and out and should deliver good, if not hybrid fuel economy.
What do all of you think?

I like 'em. The models with fully adjustable seats are amazingly comfortable and they get fantastic MPG on highway trips. As you might expect due to the price, they are often purchased by folks who don't or can't afford to maintain cars well. Which leads to some percentage of decreased reliability ratings. The CVT is the most likely issue, and even that can be very reliable with regular service and avoiding aggressive driving. In fact there are many examples with more than 200K miles and a few with more than 300K miles.

Some people here consider them to be "penalty box" cars. I'd say they are well into the average category.

no one can give anything other than a vague or knee-jerk opinion w/o: how long you intend to own the car; likes/dislikes/needs; etc.

At the *right* price and ownership length, an Altima is reasonable. the devil is in the details---as with most things in life

I'm with @Cujet
I'll try anything once
Most of the people I know take little care of any vehicle they own but cry the loudest.
