I've been a loooong time diesel owner. Bought my f250 7.3 new in 1988
Obviously the price of diesel fuel 50 cents a gallon (then) vs the expensive ULSD/garbage being sold now is depressing.
So, in hopes of putting some lubricity back into this over-priced garbage fuel, for a couple years every now and then I've added 1oz if TCW3 to one gallon of diesel.

On some other diesel forums, there have been some comments that, while the addition of TCW3 is a plus with helping to lubricate our older type Injection Pumps and Injectors, what goes on in the combustion chamber may not be so beneficial, in the respects of carbon build-up/coaking etc on pistons and piston rings.

Any feedback or disproof to the above?

It was my understanding that unprocessed oils such as WVO/used motor oil/transmission fluid ect. can cause build up/coaking. But TCW3, which is intended to be burned, will not cause any build up.

Ive ran tcw3 in my 87 since i bought it 2 yrs ago. 1oz per gallon.definatly makes the 6.9 much quieter.

I also bought the tool to check the timing with. Cranking the timing up to around 8btdc@2000 rpm brings back some power lost with the new fuel. Still a little slow w\o a turbo but atleast i can safely merge onto the fwy.

2 stroke oil is designed to burn clean.its regular motor oil and atf that leaves a mess imo.

Chris, from what I understand and with this ULSD/garbage our older diesels actually like a little more timing, mine is set at 9.50

Ok, I'm feeling better about what TCW-3 isn't doing in my combustion chamber.

Question...do you feel TCW3 is actually 'lubricating' as well as the products actually designed/manufactured to add lubricity back to the fuel > like Diesel Service, Howes Diesel Treat or the additive made by Stanadyne?

Better. Way better. Those products still must adhere to the EPA rules if it tells you on the bottle you can add it to your diesel fuel. That means they don't work very well, at least not in the doses listed on the bottle. And they cost more.

I use a mixture of Diesel Kleen and 2 stroke oil in my truck, since the Diesel Kleen is a good cleaner/cetane improver, and the 2 stroke is a great lubricant. They would sell the product this way to begin with if the EPA would let them...

Good feedback!
Curious, what mix/bled do you use per gallon of fuel?

I try to mix 1oz of 2 stroke oil and .32oz of Diesel Kleen per gallon of fuel. (The recommended dose) It's not terribly important to be exact though, I usually add just a hair extra.
