Stumbled across this device after trying to find an alternative to the Nest thermostat that wasn't made in China:

http://www.tado.com/en/the-idea.html

"Designed in Munich, assembled near Ammersee" - Headquartered in Munich, we combine technical development, design, sales and customer service under a single roof. We have our hardware produced at the Ammersee, South of Munich to ensure that everything is just as we like it: technically perfect, uncompromisingly user-friendly

I have my eyes peeled on Nest for quite some time, but shy away due to initial cost (me currently using some 5+2 programmable thermostat for my 3 zone hydronic heating systems).

I'm definitely interested in ths one called tado..

Q.

It isn't for sale outside of Europe yet, but I've subscribed to their system that they have in place to let people know when it is. I'm definitely interested in the product.

100% telecommuter now so it would not save me a dime. However in my twenties I traveled 99% for my IT job and left the house thermostat on at 72F.

I bought one from Home depot works good and saves money. I was told that you're supposed to set your AC to a temp and leave it. Did not sound right to me. And it was not. During the week I have it set to go down 30 minutes before usual arrival time home. It is set to go back up 30 minutes before I leave in the morning. The savings were noticeable on my first bill after install. It paid for itself the first Summer.

I assume you're talking about a Nest thermostat?

What kind of thermostat did you have prior?
