Synthetics are just NOT acheiving 15/25 K anymore?

I agree, but such mileage extremes have been used for marketing/sales generating purposes.

I am trying to push forward with Amsoil on this one. In this case...the Durango was new, does easy miles, and puts over 50K a year on. The oil is getting used oil analysis by Amsoil and is using the Eao full-flow. Oil usage is Zero between oil changes. The first oil change results were good, but the oil did not make it even to 13K. The second oil change did not make it to 15K without being abnormal.

The oil thickened to a 50 weight. Everything else was in the acceptable range. Amsoil at this point is leaning toward "sodium" contamination and say's it will push up the viscosity. I just don't buy it. The claim is 15K severe duty or 25K or 1year...which ever comes first. This promise is just not happening anymore.

If you find out what is going on via Terry Dyson - let us know without revealing any trade secrets - I'm very interested in this.

I think Pablo is right tho - some engines just tear apart oil and other engines barely touch it. Still, I'll agree with LCM - a 25,000 mile OCI is insanely high unless you're doing 55mph on a midwestern blacktop with no traffic. IMHO.

I agree with the rest of the crowd - why risk the engine - I'd do 3-5k OCIs with Supertech synthetic or TropArtic semi-syn - both are insanely cheap. Still, get a used oil analysis after that. Post it here - very interested in seeing further used oil analysis with this engine. Thanks for sharing.
