Synthetic recommendations

02' Grand Caravan just finished Auto-rx with 70k. I would like to transition to synthetic. Recommendations for type and for synthetic, do they have 10w and 5w choices or is it just synthetic.

What type of driving, how long OCI?

Synthetic actually has more viscosity ranges than dino if that is what you are asking. 0w30 and 5W-40 spring to mind.

Those oils may be too thick for the Caravan engine.
Just use what the Drivers manual states, use a 5w30 or in the summer a 10/30. Get a jug of Mobil 1 at Walmart for $21. And run 5000 to 7500 miles. Rinse and repeat.

Heck, a good dino can run 5k miles. I would stay with that and an A-Rx maintenance dose.

I'm running Mobil 1 10W30 in my wife's 2000 GC 3.3. Ran Super Tech syn 10W30 for 2 years previous, before that ran GTX 10W30. No problems with any of the oils.

Well, I have just about talked myself into going to a 1 yr/7500 mile synthetic OCI on my wife's 2005 Grand once my Auto-RX is complete. I had planned on a 6 month interval with Valvoline DuraBlend (about 3500-4000 miles, mainly for warranty) but may try a 1 year with Full Synthetic and get a used oil analysis on it.
