Synthetic leaks vs. mineral

I older engine that's cruddy from mineral oil
I'd say yes more prone to leak but not guaranteed. False seals from crud can be cleaned and the seals may be shrunken so they can allow the oil to get past them.

Then HM oils should also potentially cause leaks. HM have more detergents and some are PAO/GIII blends. Extra detergents with some synthetics should then also (possibly) cause leaks

Newer vehicles. No.
Older vehicles. Yes.

Does this mean that people with older vehicles, with higher miles that also leak a little bit off oil are better off just using conventional vs a HM oil?

Well, I guess old isn't the word I should have used...but leaks..yes. So I'm asking...Do some of you feel that straight conventional will permit a long lasting engine vs running HM oil? I guess it will never hurt to have to top off a little more often I suppose. I'm known many people who run non-HM oils the life of their motos and have gotten 300k plus along with oil stains on the driveway. I guess the oilstaines never bothered anyone

Been bouncing back and forth with Rotella synthetic and Maxlife blend for the last 15-20k miles, have not had any issues, but I didn't have leaks prior either.

I would run a full synthetic, check the oil level often and top off as needed.
