In a 3.7 v6 Ram would a 5w30 synthetic blend oil like durablend or some others be safe for 5ooo mile oil changes ? thanks

dodge1,

Motorcraft's (ConocoPhillips) 5w30 is a great synthetic blend like their 5w-20 spec'd for Ford/Mazda and Honda.

It is tough to beat $2 a quart at WalMart.

I didn't realize their 5w30 was synthetic blend too. Thanks for the info John!

And you're absolutely right, Motorcraft is quite the steal these days especially now that they offer it in the 5qt. jug.

Does your Ram call for 5w20 or 5w30?

Either way, check out Havoline. It's one of, if not the most, highly suggested conventional oils on this board. I wouldn't hesitate to run it 5K.

If you really want to run a synthetic blend and you're engine calls for 5w20, I'd seriously consider Motorcraft 5w20. I use it in my '05 Mazda3 that call for a 5w20. This oil has come back with some really good numbers in the used oil analysis section. I'm running mine out to 7500K.

We have several 03 4.6 Crown Vics in our family and use only 5w20 Motorcraft synthic blend.Holds up well in Miami heat and nightmare bumper to bumper traffic.

Yes, a 5w30 syn blend or even a good dino would be a very good choice for 5K OCI. Motorcraft is my favorite blend and its currently priced under $2.
