I'm wanting to change my transmission filter and transmission fluid. Mileage is at 32,000 miles.

My question is this, is there that much more gained by using synthetic?

BTW, generally, yes. Whether there is a good fluid available or not is another story...

Its a 2006 Dodge Minivan 3.8L

Mopar ATF+4 fluid

You vehicle is spec'ed for Amsoil ATF, 4 QTs in the pan and 9.8QTs total fill.

Amsoil ATF is excellent ATF, not exactly cheap, but worth it.

There will be people who say one ATF cannot possibly be spec'ed for so many different ATFs and vehicles, but I am not one of those people.

Why not the majors are doing it now too.

Friend had his mini van switched at 125K or so and passed 250K easy. Has an engine electronic device issue right now but base motor and trans are great on Amsoil.

I've used Mobil 1 Syn ATF for years. I use it in my 87 Grand national and it's one of the few GN's with an untouched tranny so it must do something good! Also use it in other vehicles that call for Dexron III or less. Lastly, I use it in transfer cases that call for ATF with good results. One application I do not use it in is my truck which requires Dexron 6. Mobil 1 ATF is not certified Dexron 6 so don't use in place of that spec.

Here we go again.

When you ask for synthetic what do you expect to get?
