Synth 40 weights

Yeah on the shearing,I'm not sure. I know the manual/fsm says not to go over 3/3k. Greg at SpecialtyZ says to run 20W50 in these cars.

My engine did shear RP Synerlec 20W50 within 3200 miles,but the used oil analysis was perfect with virtually no wear metals.

The Z32 has timing belt driven cams and very good engineering. You could probably use super tech 10w30 and never have an oil related problem. I'd still spring for a Mobil 1 High Mileage 10w30 or Valvoline maxlife synthetic 10w30 since Z32s are pretty nice cars. 0w30 or 5w30 for the winter if you drive it all year. I'd only go to a 40 weight if its the Twin turbo.
