For your perusal, my 1st post.

Lots of short trips for this car. STP oil filter. I may try PP 5w-30 next time.

Sheared right down b/c of all the fuel in it...not suprising with all of the short trips, and the wear metals are probably still break-in, so overall not too bad....TBN indicates oil would survive the 7500 mile warranty oil-change interval (just assuming that's what it is..)

How is the construction of that STP filter? I've stuck to OEM for my Speed6. I think the short trips are compounding this engine's fuel dilution issues. I end up with trace amounts, but I did more freeway driving.

The STP filter looks fine, and of very similar construction to OEM. They don't look all crushed when they come out, and seem to fit at least as well as the OEM filter. I'm not going to slap STP stickers in the back window or anything, but they seem to be a suitable substitute. I don't remember how much they cost. I used OEM cartridges for the Mazda3 that we had.

They dont crush. I put mine on Saturday and took it back off to check.

Id bet your fuel is more than 1% from your iron, shear, flash point.

I might have to look into those STP filters when I run out of OEM ones. My local dealer mailed me a $20 gift certificte, so that will buy three filters and crush washers.
