Today I tackled the cloudy headlights on the Clubman. I did some research and decided on using the Sylvania Headlight Restoration Kit- $20.00 from Amazon:

Needless to say, I'm very pleased with the results.

I did mine about a month ago with the same kit and they came out great. I just hope they last more than a few months because it was very time consuming. My Ram has the wrap around style lenses and it took 1/2 a day.

Great job! This is one of those jobs that the fruits of your labor are so drastically evident when done that it makes your whole weekend better.

Can you describe the process with that kit?

I have always used the 3M kit which requires a ton of sanding with various grits, easily eats up half a day to get good results... But when you're done, it looks amazing and I typically get 2 years out of them before they start hazing over again.

I'd be interested in hearing if this one is any less labor intensive.

It took me @2 hours. Here are the steps:
Clean headlight lens thoroughly
Spray on "Surface Activator; let sit 30 seconds and then rinse with water
Wet sand with 400 grit paper for five minutes
Wet sand with 1000 grit paper for five minutes
Wet sand with 2000 grit paper for five minutes
Polish with Clarifying Compound for five minutes
Rinse and dry thoroughly
Reapply Surface Activator, let sit for 30 seconds and rinse and dry thoroughly
Apply UV Block Clear Coat and let cure undisturbed for at least four hours

Everything comes in the kit except for paper towels. I used a spray bottle for wet sanding and a hose for rinsing. I didn't need to mask any adjoining bodywork due to the Clubman's hood design.

I used 3M headlight restoration kit but skipped the last polish step and applied the 3M clear coat wipes instead. Results were good and no fading in over 6 months, but the Odyssey saw a lot of garage time due to present circumstances… I apply liquid Nufinish every 3 months or so to the lens with a blue paper towel to keep some UV protection.

The trick that I found effective was to use black electrical tape around the paint edges, then apply blue painter tape. The electrical tape gives good protection for when the drill slips.

Used the same kit on the Mustang
Works great!👍

Playing with the Cerokote kit today. It’s not bad, easy to use. Everything included. Not perfect results but better. We’ll see how long it lasts.

Hey all, find it interesting that while the Sylvania kit seemed to get great reviews everywhere at work we stopped carrying it like a year ago.

My coworker tried the Wipe New headlight kit and said it worked well. I'm thinking of trying it because the Escape headlights are getting slightly foggy and I want to do it before it gets ugly since I drive a lot at night and need the lights to be perfect.

Anyone tried the Wipe New kit?

Used the 3M kit on my 07 Tacoma a few years ago, but didn’t use any sealant.

As everyone said, they were cloudy again about a year later. And now they’re even worse than they were before!

Need to do them again.
