switch from Apple ecosystem to Android?

I’ve had both and personally I can’t stand the Android operating system but that’s just me. Also I’ve never felt the quality in Android products like I have with Apple. And if I got Android again I couldn’t play iMessage games with all my friends so I’d be the lone one out. We get on there and have battles with each other and it’s lots of fun. I switched in 2019 and will never go back. I wanted iPhone to start out with but my parents didn’t like Apple at the time but I think I’ve finally convinced them to switch this go around.

I message games. You can play games in the texting app now? How does that even work. They're adding all kinds of features to everything nowadays.

They actually have had it for around 10 years I believe it was 2016 when they released that I’ve been playing since beginning of high school which was 2016. It’s a program called GamePigeon and you download it and take turns playing the games. It’s super awesome and I’ve never met an iPhone user that didn’t have it installed actually lol. Theres games like 8 ball pool, cup pong which is basically beer pong without the beer, darts, golf, a lot more too.

iPhone user here for about 15 years and haven’t even heard of games in iMessage but I’m not exactly the king of tech.

Edit to add: as far as switching to Android from Apple, I thought about it the last couple times I’ve been phone shopping, I usually get a new flagship iPhone every 3-4 years and the Samsung offerings so look appealing but now more than ever I’m into the Apple eco system with AirPods, Apple Watch, etc. I can’t stand Apple computers however so I stay on Windows, kinda have to for work anyways.

Last time I have an Android was a S5 I believe, I did like the options to customize, user accessible storage, user sealable battery, etc but was glad to go back to a iPhone when it was time for a new phone.

Edit to add again: it seems like the progression from year to year is really slowing down, seems more so with Apple than the androids but maybe not?

In the past when upgrading to a 3-4 year newer flag ship iPhone it was always like night and day but my latest upgrade(14 pro max to 17 pro max) was barely noticeable, the biggest thing for me was the addition of the “action” button and camera button which are nice and I use them all the time but for general phone use it seems like the same phone.

I think my first foray into it was the 3gs if memory serves... As luck would have it I couldn't use the iPhone keyboard (coming off a blackberry 8520 I believe, which I would 100% go back to if given the choice). I used my finger nails for the blackberry, my thumb tips fat fingered the iPhone constantly. They had a samsung infuse for about the same price and for whatever reason the samsung keyboard was more manageable.

Lots has changed since then. I'd be fine with either though I typically dislike the apple method of burying things in sub menus for the sake of making it look clean and keeping people from making changes. And sadly everyone has been following that trend lately. Kind of held out on switching to windows 11 until 10 was EOL for nuisance reasons like that.

I will also add, just for fun, I started my current job in 2021... We had machines running XP still, on network, controlling major process systems.

The blackberrys with the big keyboards were great for typing, in short time I could type without looking. But for just about anything else they were pretty bad, web browsing was terrible.

Go figure. I switched from iphone to android in 2014 or 15 but after 11-12 years I might go back as apple at least cares about privacy and maybe i'm getting paranoid about the government and this surveillance state but I want the gov to struggle more to get my data which they don't with windows and android. I hate the idea of google scanning everything in my phone which they've been doing to some degree with email photos and others but the new gemeni ai forced onto you in the next update that scans everything even your gallery and automatically uploads to google servers to scan has me ready to jump ship. it's sickening.

I actively try to be on my phone as little as possible. browsing wouldn't bother me that much. Looking back, it wasn't horrible given what they were working with but by the time those phones were out (2010/2011) they had them beat there for sure. The physical click is what I miss. So satisfying.

Apple does the same thing. They all do the same thing. Apple goes through your photos and sorts them, check out the people and pets folder.

I'm more concerned about all the Flock cameras and the government contracts with companies like Palantir that are building profiles on all of us and tracking our movements by license plate and biometrics.

Same old Apple arguments will never go away. Let face it, out of the box to the general public the google machine is far more invasive and android more dangerous with rouge actors

Soon, Wifi networks will be able to specifically identify you but your unique biological signature.
I suspect government already is using WiFi to identify and track people. No smart devices or phones needed.

"Scientists in Germany have demonstrated a startling new form of surveillance: identifying people using nothing more than ordinary WiFi signals....
In tests involving 197 participants, the researchers said the system identified individuals with nearly 100% accuracy. The recognition remained effective regardless of viewing angle or how the participants walked.
"The technology is powerful, but at the same time entails risks to our fundamental rights, especially to privacy," emphasizes Strufe."

You complain about an old Apple argument then regurgitate an old Android argument in the next sentence.
Buy what you like to use, there is nothing old about anything. Believe or deny or argue what you will. Give me sources to back up your statement like I give you. Educate the masses, not just me.

"“Not a single app on the Apple App Store could be considered as blatant adware,” Naprys explained. “All the apps on the App Store represented big platforms behind them and were more useful than ad-powered flashlights, prank generators, or dubious PDF viewers on Google Play.”

"When assessing the vulnerability of Android and iOS to cyber attacks, it becomes evident that both platforms have their strengths and weaknesses. Android’s open ecosystem offers flexibility but increases the risk of malware attacks. In contrast, iOS’s closed environment provides a higher level of control and security but limits customization options."

Just found this one, it used my words "out of the box" that you said was the "same old argument" and "regurgitate"
"Android OS Phone Security
Android security has a questionable security reputation, mainly because no one owns it. In other words, no one regulates what can or cannot be offered as an Android app, or even what can be sold as an Android phone."

"Apple's iOS mobile operating system is tightly controlled by Apple itself, which also tightly controls the apps available in the Apple App Store. This control allows Apple devices to offer good security "out of the box," at the price of some user restrictions."

enough said... debate over with the above sources.
