Been with Apple exclusively since the iPhone 5, and ready for a change. The OnePlus 15 is catching my eye the most out of every android phone available. Problem is, I have everything in the Apple ecosystem. iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods, MacBook, etc. I do have a PC as well. I was thinking, I don’t want to get rid of my iPad Pro M2. I use it every day. It’s a virtually flawless powerhouse. I’m thinking to start I’d have to at least get a watch to work with the android phone. Anyone here have a mix of android and Apple devices? How has the experience been?

Phones and gadgets are just tools you are heavily invested in apple products I don't see it cost effective to switch to an Android phone. If it is just something you need to do go for it otherwise I say save your money. I have used both on and off through the years but always and currently prefer the iPhone for their monolithic nature but by no means an Android hater my daily is a 6 year old Chromebook.

There are options other than Apple, Google and Microsoft...who are not your friends.

Privacy and security is a small but growing endeavor. As a primer...you can look at Fairphone which is a forward thinking in approach.. There are several other hardware folks like HIROH, Purism and Shiftphone which offer similar capabilities.

These phones offer alternative OS such as iodes and murena e/os which are 100% detached from the big 3 ecosystems.

Graphene OS is a popular choice for those who wipe android phones to install a separate OS but is still dependent on Google somewhat.

If you put some effort into it...you can have a much more secure and private electronic device experience. The big three marketing have convinced people there is no use trying to avoid their constant surveillance and capturing your data...which is a real thing.

Just an alternative viewpoint and thoughts for consideration.

One starting point if you decide to seek privacy... https://www.eff.org

Good luck.

I did just the opposite. I was into the Android system for years. 1 1/2 years ago I went with an Iphone 16. It truly was the longest and most miserable technology aggrevation I ever experienced. Honestly, most of it was just dealing with the Apple differences in how things work. Long story short I had enough this past March, and traded back into an Android, the Pixel 10. As Forest said, "It was just like old times...we were peas and carrots." YMMV, but as an old dog who doesn't learn new tricks well, I'd stay put.

I started with an Android phone (now a Pixel 8), after I retired I replaced my work laptop (Microsoft with a Go ogle Chromebook front end) with a chomebook. Keep all my home budget and finance monitoring spreadsheets, as well as PDFs of any important papers in our house on the Google drive. Works very well for me though I do not have any of the other devices people like to use (screen pad, watch etc.).

I think switching from one of the other is bound to be problematic, but it can be done I'd imagine.

Nah. Don’t really give a rats behind about blue/green bubbles. Some of my friends that I use iMessage with might give me grief. 🤣
i heard google has RCS now and i don't know how that affects gc, but i can tell you that when someone posts a video i get something the size of a postage stamp while everyone else get's the full res vid

have you ever considered what might happen one day if google decides to lock your account?

iPhone RCS to an Android does not have the full features such as editing or deleting an already sent message.

Android users can move to Apple, at the cost of a little pain.
Apple users, in general, will scream and shout, and struggle moving to Android.

I love my Pixel and Chromie. I recently picked up a Neo, just for the fun of it. Quality hardware, for sure. But so far, I still love my Chromie.
Regardless, you are 100% correct, migrating away from (or to) the Apple EcoSystem is not without work and frustration.

I have been on iphone since 4 - company standard is iphone.

I have a personal android tablet which is now my third and it just seems more intuitive to me even after all these years.

If you buy quality Android (samsung, pixel, etc) or Apple I don't think there is a bad choice.

I would ask yourself why you want to? I personally wanted better access to moving and accessing files - sd card, cloud. I just could never get used to the apple file system or lack thereof. I also never got too deep in the apple system - apple pay, music, etc. Always on indy platforms.

I have several group chats with green and blue bubbles. Really no issues. In fact it seems like there are more issues when iphone goes to a no internet / SMS only green bubble hole and then stops sending / receiving.

Why isn't your messaging RCS-capable ?

Galaxy S26 is all the Android phone you need.
At this point I’m basically between two phones. S26 ultra and OnePlus 15. I had the chance to try the S26U at Best Buy today but they didn’t have the OP15. Realistically the OP15 is truly the ideal phone, especially at their sale price. S26U would be great too. But 7300mAh battery is too crazy to pass on. Wonder if there will be a OP16, but there’s rumors of OP leaving the US market….
