Howdy,

I have a 2003 140 HP Suzuki 4-Stroke Outboard that I want to last a long time.

I've run Suzuki brand Oil Filters since new and change it every year with the Oil at about 80-90 Hours of use.

Is there a better filtering Oil Filters out there than Suzuki and what are they...?

Thanks!

I use the Delo becasue I carry it at my shop and also because synthetic 10w-40 oil is hard to find. The water temp when I fire up is sometimes as cold as 47 degrees, and the outside air may be 40. When launching off the beach through the breakers there isn't time to warm the motor up and sometimes the engine mut be taken to 80% throttle while navigating the breakers so I like the 5w to get things flowing quickly.

I have a DF70 Suzuki powering a commercial fishing boat in Oregon with over 2000 hrs on it since purchased in 2000. I have always used the factory suzuki filter and Delo 5w-40 synthetic and it gets changed about every 10 days 100 hrs during the season. I have cut them open and they are very good. Lots of media, silicone ADBV, and sturdy bypass. I don't really have a choice on filters though becasue my part # doesn't cross to any automotive filter.

Interesting, Cool water is the reason why you use the 5w-40 instead of the 10w-40 ??

I'm just now going from the Suzuki Oil to the better Amsoil Syn 4-Stroke Marine 10w-40...

Un -

The Suzuki P/N is LFS706. It's about 5 bucks, but I don't care much about the cost...

Thanks !!

Same color, don't know about the rest.

I want to filter this thing the best possible - I do a lot of 5,000 - 6,400 RPM running...

The Suzuki filters that I searched on Donaldson (apparently all limited to automobile engines as far as they're concerned) all had the 3/4-16 thread ..even the .8 liter stuff.

If this is the case with your Suzi ..err Zuki..then there are probably four or five alternatives for you ..maybe more depending on your gasket size.
