Suzuki DR650 - OEM - 18,000kms

Finished a xcountry trip on the DR, which included Alaska, Yukon, NWT, and the Arctic Ocean.

This Suzi oem filter went 18,000 kms.

Bike now has 38,000kms on it.

Looks like new.

No shiny stuff.

Pleats are healthy.

Man, I'd like to hear more about the epic trip, and the DR650, as it's among the Dual Sport bikes I've been considering for awhile now.

How much weight do you estimate you were hauling? Any suspension upgrades, or other mods?

It's still sitting on my shelf in the garage, I'm afraid to move the heat exchanger/oring lol.
Changed the one in the pan already though.

Only bikes I own now are DRs

Sold my R1200GS in the spring and bought another Pig.

Shopping for a third DR this fall.

Loved both my DL650 and DL1000. Finally settled on the old DR platform. I must be getting old, cause I really like the 200+ pounds less when on big trips. The slow speed control and maneuverability is where it really shines. I was camping on hilltops that had funky trails leading up to them... and not for one second was I worried on the DR

I wouldn't bother changing the rock catcher screen filter in the pan. There's nothing to gain and the aftermarket versions are lower quality. It can also be tricky sourcing the correct part since Suzuki used two different heights.

The paper filter is worth changing though. It's under the intake and is well documented here. Mitsubishi CVTs use the same paper filter and o-ring: filter 2824A006, o-ring 2920A096
