Fake, staged crapp.
I stopped watching the season they put that small pig near the camp and tried to pretend it just happened to wander by, and that bozo killed it with his knife. Then the same bozo later fell alseep and fell into the fire and burned his wittle hands.

Nope, I thought it was garbage almost from the start of the show.

MarkC, my better half saw the light with that stunt, and realised "reality" TV is more staged than reality.

One or two 30 second observations in the past but that was it.

Back to the History Channel to engorge my BRAIN!!!!!!!!!!

It's BULGING!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I was surprised that it's still in production.

Most of these shows are on (I'm convinced) due to their cheapness and the apparent ease at which some minds are entertained.

"Pro-Rassling" is alive and well too. Kinda like a more colorful and updated version of The Three Stooges ...but with a much broader cast.

I can sit and flip through the mere 65 channels that I have on tier II cable and never find anything worth watching. I've already run through most of The History Channel and The Learning Channel documentaries of merit (some for the 2nd or 3rd time). A&E has some good things ..but they too are starting to show syndicated reruns of network shows.

The entire medium is beat. It's running short on revenues and, instead of getting those who produced quality (a nebulous commodity in terms of value) programming to work within the available market yield, have just thrown out junk that they can get more $$ from on a ROI basis.

I like Survivorman myself. Let some of those schmucks on Survivor hang out in the woods by themselves for 7 days with NOTHING.

Yes -- my wife and I have watched every Survivor season. It does seem to get old - but there's nothing else on. The next Survivor will be in China. Apparently they now have run out of islands.....

Gary, I agree 100%. Funny how I gravitate back towards GAC/CMT, and VH-1 for entertainment. It's not even based on TV...it's based on musical enjoyment.

CSI Miami is interesting, but it's run it's course with me. The 20/20's and DateLine's have topics that sound interesting, but the delivery is watered down and a total yawner.

I find that the lottery gal in Illinois (on WGN-TV at 9:22pm) is blonde and has something off the wall to say that I laugh at.

Then there's there's the local channel 2.2 (HDTV channel that has 24/7 weather).

Reputable online news sources deliver news to my inbox faster than any Ken & Jane news cast is capable of doing.

Tivo cuts out the commercials so I see only what I want to see...or what I allow my kids to see.

I find that the better programming is on radio. All the AM talkers, XM's info and talk channels...who really *needs* TV anymore?

I've really got to surrender to the possibility that my impressions are more due to demographics than anything else. I've surely watched enough stuff that, looking back, wasn't very good ..and I enjoyed it back then.

Now I'm (probably) not in the target demographic anymore

My parents watch Survivor unfortunately. I hate it! They watch "The Amazing Race" also, but I actually like that show a little bit.

I avoid most reality shows like the plague.

Mark, you raise a good point. For all of us who've had serious back/spinal problems and the intense pain that goes along with it, that's truly surviving for weeks on end.

Intense back spasms

Getting out of bed!!! I never knew how many muscle groups were involved (I've ne'r seen a condition so Oggressif - crockhunter RIP). Developing a roll and kneel technique (still painful)..now that's survival skills ...descent and ascent on "the bowl" ..another good one. Stuck there, miserable, that's not too hard to adopt as an acquired skill.

Relaxing on the recliner (same state)...kids migrate in "Are you okay, Dad?" (dad coughs - sending pain throughout his body) "Ouch!" Kids laugh ..Dad laughs ..sending more pain throughout his body. "Ouch - laugh" "OUCH!!" still laughing .. Repeat for next child migrating through house.
