I have a 2002 F-150 that spec's Mercon/Dex III in the power steering. I change by it by using the "turkey baster" method. I wonder if the SuperTech Dex VI would it be benefit over the various Mercon/Dex III fluids I use, none synthetic. Since the fluid is changed a bit at a time would the mixing of the fluids cause a problem. I have no intention of doing a ps flush. I don't break open couplings that are not leaking.

It will work just fine any powersteering unit that spec.'s an ATF can basicly use any ATF the OEM just recomends their own product. I have used DexII,DexIII,D4,D6,C+,Amsoil Universal ATF,and most recently ATF+4 in Toyota,Ford and Chrysler powersteering units. The wifes Buick has SuperTech High Milage ATF in it. All have worked great. The ATF+4 was SuperTech brand and I bought it because I know that all ATF+4 has to be semi-synthetic and has a decent additive package. At the time Walmart did not have a Dex-VI product on the shelfs or I would have bought it.

New for 08 Pathfinders and likely for a number of other of their vehicles Nissan states in the manuals that Dexron VI may be used as a replacement fluid in the power steering system.

Up north here I have found that a DexronVI works very well in all our Nissans and most PS systems that use ATF.

Not really. The first ATF was "Type A" which was later superseded by Dexron. Ford introduced their own fluid spec in the 50s and that was "Type F."

I know it's a bit off topic but I do have some more detailed information regarding the timeline of GM ATF specs if it's of interest.

Type A - 1949
Type A suffix A - 1959
DEXRON - 1967
DEXRON-II - 1973
DEXRON-IIE - 1990
DEXRON-III(F) - 1994
DEXRON-III(G) - 1997
DEXRON-III(H) - 2003
DEXRON-VI - 2005
