Blackstone: Nothing too unusual showed up in the initial sample from this engine. All wear read at or below averages, which is a good indication of normal wearing parts. The universal averages show normal wear from the Ford 4.6L V-8 after 4,000-5,000 miles on the oil. Insolubles were okay at 0.4%, showing good oil filtration. No fuel or coolant was found and the viscosity was okay for a 5w30 oil. Silicon was mildly high at 20 ppm so you may want to check your air filter for problems. Everything else looks good at this point. Suggest going 6,500-7,000 miles on the next oil.

Silicon (dirt from the sandstorm) is high. But everything else looks nice. I wasn't aware that Supertech had boron and Moly

They must have changed their formula. This could be the new "darling" of cheap dino oils here.

Is this the Exxon-Mobil product (Big blue bottle with black cap) or the WPP product(gray bottle)? Here in Rhode Island we have the Exxon Mobil supplied Super Tech.

Not sure exactly what vintage ST this is. my dad did the oil change. I think it was the Exxon Superflow look alike bottles.

the bottle was blue. shaped liked Exxon superflow. I think it was SL, but I'm not sure. I too noticed the high calcium -- but no sodium (so it can't be SM exxon, right??).

Usually house brands show weaker add packs than the supplier name brand. I'm no expert, but maybe the added sodium component is costly & not added by Exxon-Mobil. Maybe someone here knows a more proper explanation. If this is group-2 E-M base oil with this add-pack you listed, that's a good bargain for the money they charge for it.

Look what I found on page 2! As the saying goes, "NOTHINGS' perfect".

But this engine type and oil combo look like a nice match. Ford 4.6 might make even Pennzoil look good!

Reduce your OCI to 6mo/4500mi for a near perfect oil report.

I like pennzoil bashers and then they recommend Havoline knowing that the two oils are too simular to tell apart. I know that I am going to get negative feedback on this!

i dont remember what color the cap was but i was in walmart and looked at the bottom of a blue bottle and it said wpp.

He's talking about the Wallymart stuff in the blue bottle. And his silicon is probably high because the 4.6's use hypereutectic pistons and rods, made with silicon.
