Hi car is as follows:
2000 Sunfire 2.2L4, 5spd 95 000km regular oil changes
Sometimes when driving I get a "jerking" sensation while accelerating lightly or applying more throttle to maintain speed up a hill. This problem will occur very speratically, sometimes going two months between occurances, or sometimes two minutes between. It's as if power if being cut out for half a second or a second and then being restored quickly and sharply.
I have changed the spark plugs, spark plug wires, and traded both ignition coil packs with my brother who has a similar car and used a few bottles of STP fuel injector cleaner (for dirty injectors, not the maintenance forumla to prevent clean injectors from getting dirty). This has not solved the problem.
GM dealer just sprayed the coil packs with a garden hose and took it for a drive and told me I was imagining things. Oh and charged me $50 dollars for this fine service.
A trusted local mechanic drove my car for two days and said he couldn't duplicate my problem at all (not unusual) but said from my description is sounded like the car was losing the spark to one or more cylinders.
I noticed when it happens (a series of several sharp jerks) i can usually temporarily remedy the situation with a good stab to the gas pedal. Could this point to injector trouble?
Give me what's on your mind, wether you think you're right or not.
Oh, p.s. check engine light never comes on and the computer has no codes stored in it.
