Hi all,
I have noticed a low pitch sound kinda like knock during the first 2-3 minutes after cold Ontario morning start-up, not only that; the whole engine seems louder there is also some valve chatter. The car is Acura 3.2 CL type S, I got it in December with 98,000km (60,000mi). Immediatelly changed oil to PetroCanada semi-synthetic 5w30 and a cheap orange Fram (I know but 'twas to be a short OCI). Just recently 1000 km ago I changed it out with GC 0w30 and a supertech ST3593 Temps here are around 2-4 C or just under 38-40F so it is not that cold once the engine warms up I have to put my ear to the valve cover to hear ir purr. Could this be a sign of a rod going or is the combination of somewhat thicker oil, somewhat more restrictive/deffective filter and colder weather to blame for my noissy engine?
Shuld I flush it with Gunk or STP slovent type stuff to flush out restricted oil passages? Or try 5W-20 with say Purolator Premium Plus 14459, or Fram Tough Guard 3593A (this may be less restrictive)?
Should I worry at all? this is deffinitely louder than any othe car my family has ever had except for the 3.1 98 GrandAm my father had before.
I kinda wanna keep the beast nomarawhat
P.S. the car burns absolutely no oil and from what I can see trough oil fill it is spotless the oil cap is also clean, tail pipes dry and relativelly soot free.
