Subaru wrx oil burner!

I think this a great time for ideas on what would be the BEST oils, for Pop's WRX.

The car is in Europa, Greece. The roads in Greece, are very twisty and hilly on mainly narrow and many times rural and primitive by Northern European, comparisons. The Subaru WRX, is really the perfect car for Hellas. Maybe they should make it the National Car, meaning it fits the roads and the temperment of most of the Greek Drivers. It's "Nervous", in it's personality, impatient and competant.

What oils would you use and why?

Happy 4th of July all,
I went to ask for Elf oil today, and they told me 11 euros per liter. This times five and we have 55 euros per oil change, just for the oil...
As i posted a few days ago, it does not burn much anymore, maybe the oil was way past due for a change, and this is why it burnt it like crazy. Fact is, the old oil smelled burned when I changed it. I'd like to ask the question again: Anybody has experience with this engine, in similar weather/driving patterns? If so, any oil that works in this engine?
Pastmaster, the car is ideal for Greece. If only the roads were more sticky... Regardless, you should see the look in BMW drivers' faces when the ugly wagon smokes their coupe! Btw, who told you that Greek drivers are "nervous and impatient" ;-)

Niko, I am one! I have been to Ellada, many times since I was a kid. I have family in Vasiliko, near Korinthos and further South near Poros. From a Fiat 850 to a Mercedes, a BMW motorcycle and my uncle's old remoulka. Athens, is quite an experience for a USA-Xenos driver!

Niko, What about Mobil 1 products? Is ESSO-Pappas, still in business? Mobil-Exxon, would own them these days. Agip, is Italian, and take a nice ride; the ferry to Brindisi, from Patra or Ioaninna, if you are further North. I presume you are in Athinai, and buy some cases of Agip Synthetic Oil, that meets your needs. Also try BIAMAX, which is Mercedes-Benz of Greece, if you are in Athens, and see what they can do for you, M-B uses synthetics as factory fill for just about everything they build nowdays. With the EU, these prices shouldn't be this high.

My brother uses M1 (5w30 I think) in his WRX (has around 60k on it) and it rarely needs any oil to be added in 5k OCI's. It doesn't normally get driven as hard but it is tweaked a little..... about 300hp. It's hot here too, we're in the upper 90's to low 100's for most of the last month.

Thanks for the input, but for some reasons a 40 wt is the minimum I would like to go. I know, thicker is not always better, but I told my mechanic in Greece that this car gets 5w30 in the US and he looked at me funny...Anyway, I don't want to start a thick-thin thread, but in a turbocharged car, with this kind of usage and at these temperatures, 30 wt doesn't give me the warm and fuzzy feeling.

Hey Niko, If nothing else works, use Summer weight OLIVE OIL!
