There are two synthetic filters with right pressure of relief valve (23-27PSI) for latest Subaru FA/FB engine instead of original 15208aa130 (largest media), 15208aa160 and 15208aa170:

1) Subaru STI ST15208ST000 (not ST152084S000 like Subaru 15208aa100 fo EJ-engines) http://www.sti.jp/parts/catalogue/oilfilter/oilfilter.pdf
http://minkara.carview.co.jp/en/userid/141458/car/1212444/2393882/note.aspx

2) Cusco "00B 001 E" (not "00B 001 C" like Subaru 15208aa100 fo EJ-engines)
http://www.cuscousainc.com/downloads/dl/file/id/20/oil_filters_and_gear_oils.pdf
Both CUSCO filters have 12 microns / 160 kpa : 23.2 psi, but (may be) no ADB valve.

I think those STI filters go for about US$50 when you can find them...believe that it has wire backed media, but I'm still not interested at that price.

I've been buying the 15208aa170 filters in quantity on Amazon for something like $3.50 each with a shipping charge on the order of $10 for 10 filters...I have enough for more than 3 years of changes now. They are top notch Tokyo Roki filters speced for the new WRX, and I am very comfortable using them in my FXT as it has a similar FA20DIT engine.

STI - 40 USD
Cusco - 20 USD

Also you can found excellent(98.7@20u) american filters instead of Subaru 15208aa130 (with round gasket istead of best P-form gasket):
- Amsoil EA15K20
- Royal purple 10-2808
- Mobil 1 M1-104
- K&N HP-1004
(Of course, all of them have 11-17PSI relief valve instead of 23PSI (on Subaru 15208aa130), but LESS flow resistance, so opening the relief valve comes PRESUMABLY the same time than on the original Subaru 15208aa130/160/170/12a/15a)

And korean/mexican KN HP-1004 with unknown efficiency and american AFE 44-LF018without reliev valve...

And excellent FRAM Ultra filters XG9688 and XG3593A(little oversized) , but (so sorry!) with square gasket (some users said about leaks on Subaru and other asian cars).

I ran a K&N HP-1010 before I learned about the whole bypass pressure controversy...I prefer to use filters with the higher pressure relief valve, even though I accept that it probably doesn't really matter. Still have a 1010 laying around "just in case"...like somebody breaks in and steals my 16 Tokyo Roki filters and leaves the K&N the day before I want to change my oil.

When I was at WalMart last week, a little electronic info tablet told me that one of the low grade FRAMs that fits my car (XX3717?) had the high bypass pressure valve, but the FRAM website did not agree with that bit of information...???
FRAM also says that filter is designed for conventional oil, whatever that means...

PSI=16-28, but small dimensions (like small 15208aa100) only for EJ (not for FA/FB) and only 95%@20u ...

p.s. Why do you use 15208aa170(only for the WRX with a very low hood, where it is impossible to use 130/160), which is less than 15208aa130?

That may be the filter that showed up at WalMart, I'm pretty sure the website pointed to the 3717 family.

I'm not quite sure what you're trying to say about the 170 vs. the 130, but this analysis claims that the 170 has a larger filtration media area than the 130. Basically, I figure that the filter should be good enough for my FXT if it is recommended for the WRX, given that they have very similar engines with that in the WRX being a bit higher in performance. Getting a well constructed Tokyo Roki filter for less than $5 per unit in quantity is icing on the cake...

Might also mean that the filter has more delta-p across under extreme operating conditions, and the bypass valve opening pressure is raised to ensure it doesn't go into bypass when it shouldn't. IMO, one good reason Subaru want's a high bypass valve setting is because some of their turbo engines have a very high flow oil pump (~14 GPM). Part of that may also be because their OEM filters are somewhat flow restrictive.

But I would have to think that the well known brand name oil filter manufacturers have verified that a filter with a lower bypass valve setting specified for a Subrau will work fine because the max delta-p is well below the valve's setting.

I cannot get useful information from [email protected] about this filter (full specification including bypass pressure and so on...)...
If somebody get their answer, please, place their answer here...

p.s. I can get STI oil filter from local shop, price about 37 USD...

The link you posted before shows 23 PSI for the bypass valve.

I am sure, author of that autopsy have not measured himself the pressure of bypass valve, and stupidly copied 23PSI from the original filter 15208aa130.

I doubt it. For the Denso 150-1011 he wrote: "Bypass Valve: Not confirmed, No reply on 3 attempts." So if he was just putting "23 PSI" in then the Denso would show 23 PSI also and not have the note it does.

Mobil-1, Amsoil, Royal Purple, Fram - which filter has the smallest resistance to the flow?

I compare non-original filters instead of original Subaru filter 15208-AA130 (the largest of the filters Subaru).
Filters Mobil 1 M1-104, Amsoil EA15K20, Royal Purple 10-2808, FRAM XG3593A (and XG9688) have the same structure of the bypass valve (and pressure 11-17psi).

Which of them has the smallest resistance to the flow (and the later opening of the bypass valve)?

All those should flow real good ... wouldn't worry about that. Which ones actually have a filter shown as being specified for your very Subaru?

I suppose that purely synthetic filter's (Amsoil, Royal Purple) resistance are significantly less than resistance of semi-synthetic (Mobil 1) or dual-layer (FRAM Ultra) filters.
Small resistance is especially important because of the smaller (than the original filter Subaru have) pressure relief valve.
p.s.
But I have searched no test about resistance...
